The master pages vary mainly in the way they present navigation menus.
- Short side menus are probably the best general-purpose choice, resulting
in a menu on the lefthand side of the page, the size of which is determined
by the number of menu items.
- Long side menus are similar, except that the background colour of the
menu extends to the bottom of the page.
- Horizontal menus run across the top of the page. These work well for
sites with a small number of pages.
- Pop-up menus are the most compact option, and look clever, but they actually
require the user to click three times to change pages.
All these menus are also available with a pop-up menu at the bottom of the page.
This is useful for sites with long pages, as the user can change pages without
scrolling back to the top.
- The No menu option is for sites where navigation is uniquely by links
in the text itself.
